Tree City USA

Red Lodge became a Tree City USA affiliate through the Arbor Day Foundation in 1999. Today, the City continues its commitment to the maintenance & enhancement of its “urban forest” by participating in annual Arbor Day activities, membership in the Tree City USA program, and support for the Parks Board and Public Works Department which plan and maintain public trees. For more information on how Red Lodge manages its urban forest, refer the Urban Forestry Management Plan.

Bee City USA

In March of 2021, City Council adopted the Bee City USA resolution, allowing Red Lodge to become the first city affiliate in the state. Thinking globally and acting locally, Bee City USA provides a framework for communities to work together to conserve native pollinators by increasing the abundance of native plants, providing nest sites, and reducing the use of pesticides. Through affiliation, the City will implement an Integrated Pest Management Plan and develop of a list of native, pollinator-friendly plants suitable for our planting zone.
