Subcommittees

The Parks Board houses two subcommittees that meet outside of regularly monthly meetings. Members of the public can volunteer on these committees as non-board members. 

Recreational Facilities & Trails Subcommittee

• Management and oversight of all parks and recreational facilities including playgrounds, ball parks, tennis courts, restroom facilities, etc.
• Coordination with recreational associations (baseball, softball, soccer) and other groups who routinely use city parks
• Review and draft park/trail ordinances
• Maintain relations with civic organizations who help maintain parks (Lions, Rotary, Kiwanis)
• Coordinate trail funding and development, including pursuing easements and agreements
• Identify weeds along trails and in parks
• Accounting oversight and grant assistance

Trees and Bees Subcommittee

• Create and update tree management plan for City
• Maintain Tree City USA status
• Maintain Bee City USA status
• Maintain inventory of trees and identifying tree maintenance needs
• Coordinate pruning and planting workshops, outreach and education
• Accounting oversight & grant assistance
