Posting Bond or Paying Fines

Depending on your charges, you may post bond for your citation. There are four ways to post bond or pay your fines.

  1. In-Person – Stop by Red Lodge City Court at 1 Platt Ave South, Red Lodge, Montana. The Court can take payments during business hours on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. You can contact the Court and make arraignments to make a payment on a Tuesday or Friday. 
  2. Non-Court Days Drop Box – If you would like to drop off a payment on a Tuesday or Friday, the Court has a drop box located next to the City Court Offices in City Hall. Please place your payment in an envelope, seal it, and place your name on the outside. 
  3. After Hours Drop Box – For After Hours Payments - Put your check or money order in an envelope, seal it, and write Red Lodge City Court on the outside. The drop box is located at the West Door of City Hall on 11th Street.
  4. By Mail – You can mail a Check or Money Order payable to the Red Lodge City Court, at:

  • The Red Lodge City Court does not mail receipts or statements, unless you include a self-addressed, postage paid envelope.
  • DO NOT MAIL CASH
  1. Pay Online – You can use www.CitePayUSA.com for most money due the Red Lodge City Court. 
  • Please note that CitePay charges a five percent (5%) service charge/transaction fee. 

 

 

USING CITEPAY

  • To make a payment or post a bond, you must select “Montana” from the dropdown menu. The website should continue with another dropdown menu.
  • Select “Pay a citation, fine or court fee”. A third dropdown will appear.
  • Select “Red Lodge City Court”.
  • Finally click the green “Make a Payment” button. 

Depending on what you have been charged with, you may be able to post bond for your traffic citation on-line. However, the court must enter the citation first in order for it to appear on CitePay. 

 

Finding Your Information from the Citation Number:

  • To find your information, you must enter the Citation Number and the Date of Birth listed on the citation.
  • Red Lodge citation numbers are entered with the “O93A” prefix by a 5-digit number and ending with an “A”, so when you enter your citation number, enter it in the following format:  O93AxxxxxA

 

Finding Your Information from the Cause Number:

  • To find your information, you must enter your Cause Number and your date of birth.
  • If you have received paperwork from the City Court, there is either "TK" or "CR"  followed by a series of numbers.
  • You must enter is number in the following format: TK-230-20xx-xxxxxxx or CR-230-20xx-xxxxxxx

Please note that you must include all the hyphens and zeros (0). Here is an example: TK-230-2020-0007486 

 

Paying Fines and Fees

  • After you have entered the information, click the green “Continue” button. This should bring up your case information.
  • If you are charged with an offense that requires a mandatory appearance, you must appear in court. If you were involved in an accident, you must contact the court prior to posting bond online.
  • If you have any issues with the CitePay system, please contact the court, and we will assist you.

 

 

Time Payments - The court does allow time payments.

  • If you have a Time Pay Agreement:
    • It is your responsibility to make sure your payment is received on or before the 15th of each month. 
    • Time Payments can be made in the three ways stated above.
    • If you make a payment larger than your agreed upon monthly amount, the excess will be taken off the balance due.
    • You are still required to make a payment for the full payment amount the following month.
    • Failure to contact the Court to make other arrangements prior to the due date may result in the balance due being turned over to the Montana Department of Revenue or a collection agency.
    • A Show Cause Hearing may be held, and if you fail to appear at that hearing your Driver License may be suspended and a warrant may be issued for your arrest.
