CIVIL ACTIONS

  • The Red Lodge City Court has jurisdiction over claims for money damages up to $9,500.00.
  • The City Court does not handle evictions in landlord-tenant disputes or security deposit claims brought under the Montana Residential Landlord-Tenant Act.
  • The rules of civil procedure for Montana City Courts are found in Title 25, Chapter 23 and Chapter 24 of the Montana Code.
  • Under Montana law, these rules are to be interpreted to promote just, speedy, and inexpensive determination of civil actions.

 

Fees - Apply to civil suits

  • $50 filing fee for plaintiffs
  • $30 answer fee for defendants
