Streets and Snow Removal

Streets and Snow Removal

The City of Red Lodge has roughly 35 miles of streets and alleys. Most of the streets were paved in the 1960s and 1970s. The Public Works Department is responsible for maintenance of streets and alleys, snow removal, sweeping, signing, and striping for City streets. A few important notes:

  • It’s the duty of owners, tenants, and occupants to remove snow and ice on sidewalks in commercial zoning districts, commercial purposes property, multi-family residential lot, property adjoining US Highway 212 or MT Highway 78. Snow and ice should be removed by 10am after the day of a storm. Failure to do so could result in a fine.
  • It is unlawful for residents to dispose of snow on public rights of way and could result in a fine.
