Cost-Share Tree Program

This program was implemented in 2013 as a way to reduce costs, both to the City and property owner, for planting large trees on City right-of-ways. Despite several years of grant funds to assist, this program was halted in 2019. In 2020, cost-share trees returned.

Process

Applications for cost-share trees open in the Spring. The City will advertise the program via the website, an ad in the paper, social media, and posting flyers at City Hall and the Post Office. Applications may either be emailed to the property owner or picked up at City Hall. The number of trees that will be planted is determined by the City's budget and outside funding support.

2021 Cost-Share Tree Program

The City of Red Lodge, in partnership with Northwestern Energy, has funding to plant 25 cost-share trees within City limits in 2021. The application will be available before the end of April. The funds from NWE will reduce the cost of the tree to $50 each for the property owner.
